My name is Matthijs Monnikhof. I graduated with a degree in Medicine from the University of Utrecht and am currently pursuing a PhD under the supervision of Prof. Niels Bovenschen. During my Master's program, I joined the laboratory to conduct research on cancer immunotherapy. Following this, I embarked on a PhD project focused on investigating and developing novel immunotherapies for medulloblastoma, a type of brain cancer predominantly affecting children. My research primarily focuses on chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) therapies for solid tumors, while also maintaining a focus on antibody-mediated treatments, such as immune checkpoint inhibitors. Currently, I am working on developing new CAR receptors for solid tumors, aiming to enhance the efficacy of treatments for otherwise untreatable cancers.
